Q: What do you do at Livongo?
I am building a team of world-class data scientists to enable Livongo to reach its goal of empowering hundreds of millions of people around the world people to live better and healthier lives.
Q: When did you join Livongo?
August 2016. 🙂
Q: What previous experience do you bring to Livongo?
I have spent the last 10 years building and leading data science teams at consumer intercompanies doing analytics and machine learning. Most recently I have been lucky enough to work with some of the best in the world at Twitter, eBay and Microsoft. Before that I did two startups, worked at a hedge fund and spent a long time in school doing physics, math and electrical engineering.
Q: What is the most interesting part of Livongo?
The potential to become the assistant that everyone needs to manage chronic disease.
Q: Describe the Livongo culture in 3 words.
So much potential.
Q: What made you want to work at Livongo?
I want to use data to make life better for people.
Q: What is your favorite band?
The Pixies
Jodi Pulizzi
Clinical
Experience: Healthways
Q: What do you do at Livongo?
I develop the clinical content that we provide to our members to educate on ways to better manage and understanding diabetes.
Q: When did you join Livongo?
March 2012
Q: What made you want to work at Livongo?
When I saw the opportunity I thought, “I have to work there!” I think it is a drastically different way to deliver education and connect with people and I loved the idea of trying to develop a program that helps people engage less with their disease but get better outcomes.
Q: What previous experience do you bring to Livongo?
I started out as a Registered Nurse 18 years ago. In 2005 I became a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) and 3 years ago I became a Certified Health Coach. I’ve worked in diabetes management for the past 12 years of my career. I started in a disease management setting and transitioned into an inpatient (hospital based) and outpatient (education center) setting and then started with Livongo 3 years ago.
Q: What is the most interesting part of Livongo?
The ability to have visibility to real time data, and constant connection with the members. It’s always a challenge for us as educators to see if our education with members has made a difference after they leave the office. With a non-traditional approach to diabetes self-management it makes it easier to engage with members and help them when they need us most.
Q: What has working at Livongo taught you?
A lot! Teamwork is key! I have the opportunity to work very closely with every team in the company and I have learned so much by working with such a diverse group of people. The phrase “that’s not my job” doesn’t exist. It’s a very passionate team who is all working toward the same goal to empower people with diabetes to live healthier.
Q: Describe the Livongo culture in 3 words.
Innovative, fun, passionate.
Q: What does the Livongo mission mean to you?
It means a commitment to truly changing the lives of people with diabetes.
Q: What is your favorite band?
My favorite type of music is country-I like Kenny Chesney, when I listen to him it’s like an escape from reality-preferably to the beach…
Paul Billingsly
Sales
Experience: GE Healthcare, Philips Healthcare
Q: What do you do at Livongo?
Regional Vice President of Sales for Health Systems.
Q: When did you join Livongo?
April 2018
Q: What made you want to work at Livongo?
Understanding the need to transform the care model in our healthcare system and seeing that Livongo is at the cutting edge of rethinking how we can approach “Health” versus “Healthcare” and in doing so, drive a new future for how people manage their conditions and ultimately live their lives.
Q: What previous experience do you bring to Livongo?
All of my career has been in the healthcare space with significant years in sales and sales leadership specific to capital medical equipment and technology for major health systems and IDNs. I’ve partnered with organizations to implement technology ranging from MRI systems to Healthcare IT systems.
Q: What is the most interesting part of Livongo?
For me, it’s the focus on truly impacting individual behavior, and more importantly sustainable behavior change. My career has exposed me to the traditional clinical workflows of our healthcare system. Something is broken. To turn things upside down and focus on preventing sickness where possible through changing behavior is an incredible challenge. A challenge that I know Livongo is up for and facing head on.
Q: What has working at Livongo taught you?
That behavior change is possible. My mother joined the Livongo program a few months after I started at the company and it’s been incredible to witness her transformation first-hand. The joy I get when I visit and the first thing she does is break out her iPhone to show me her results on the Livongo App or her glucometer to show me the percentage of time that she has been “in target range” is something that is hard to describe yet incredibly gratifying. Empowerment is not just a word that we use lightly. It is truly something we are committed to. My mother is my “why” and my example of better being possible.
Q: Describe the Livongo culture in 3 words.
Exciting. Forward-Thinking. Mission-Driven.
Q: What does the Livongo mission mean to you?
To me, the meaning of the Livongo mission is simple… there has to be a better way and better is possible. And yet, at the end of the day, all material success starts with conviction of the individual. When individuals are provided with tools and education to live a better life, better lives are possible for all. Limits only exist when we put them on ourselves.
Q: What is your favorite band?
I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA so I am partial to Outkast. Yes, Andre Benjamin “Andre 3000” and Antwan Patton “Big Boi” better known as Outkast.
Q: If you could have coffee with any 2 people, living or from the past – who would they be, and why?
Muhammad Ali. I admire his courage to be unapologetically himself. I would love to experience his charisma and the man who is widely regarded as one of the most significant and celebrated sports figures of the 20th century and one of the greatest boxers of all time. The other person would be #44, Barack Obama. The man, the father, the son, the attorney, the politician, the 44th President of the United States and the first African American man elected to the presidency.

Q: What do you do at Livongo?
My projects run the gamut from commercial, brand/corporate, and product marketing.
Q: When did you join Livongo?
March 2016
Q: What made you want to work at Livongo?
I fell in love with the team and truly believed in Livongo’s mission. When you have a group of smart, amazing people collaborating together for a worthwhile cause that can truly impact lives for the better - that’s gold.
Q: What previous experience do you bring to Livongo?
I have 8 years experience driving marketing campaigns at innovation consultancies. Majority of those years have been spent at product design firm Frog, where I became immersed in the sweet intersection of design, technology, and business.
Q: What is the most interesting part of Livongo for Diabetes to you?
It’s exciting to be part of a company that is reinventing the way people approach diabetes management and pushing forward the consumerization of healthcare.
Q: What has working at Livongo taught you?
The healthcare ecosystem is extremely complex!
Q: Describe the Livongo culture in 3 words.
Fun. Creative. Mission-driven.
Q: What does the Livongo mission mean to you?
Technology has disrupted so many industries, and now it’s finally healthcare’s turn. Livongo is leveraging technology in a way that keeps the consumer at the heart and truly empowers them to live healthier lives.
Q: If you could have coffee with any 2 people, living or from the past – who would they be, and why?
My father’s father – He passed away decades before I was ever born. I know so many amusing stories about him but would love the opportunity to chat with him to see what kind of man he was through my own eyes and for more amusing reasons, observe the similarities between myself, my father, and him. Plato - I would love to get his perspective on the modern world.
Q: What is something about you that someone who just met you would be surprised to discover?
I am obsessed with Escape Rooms. Last year, I spent months creating a personalized Escape Room just for my friends as my birthday celebration.

Member Support
Experience: Groupon
Q: What do you do at Livongo?
I receive contacts from our members and solve issues as efficiently as possible. Then, I track those issues and feedback and use that to drive changes and upgrades to our meter, our website, and the ways we interact with and assist our members.
Q: When did you join Livongo?
October 2016
Q: What made you want to work at Livongo?
I wanted to be able to affect change in a clear way and truly help people.
Q: What previous experience do you bring to Livongo?
I worked in the Customer Support department at Groupon for over two years. At Groupon, I managed a team of 20+ reps who fielded contacts from customers. We would track trending issues and use that information to drive changes to products, websites, etc.
Q: What is the most interesting part of Livongo?
I’m most interested in the different features we offer to our members. I've spoken with some who really appreciate the data systems we have for BG information and use them for personal updates and management. Other members really appreciate that our system can update friends/relatives when they have BG checks that are low or high. I like that our program offers various features and members can pick and choose which ones work for them.
Q: What has working at Livongo taught you?
I've seen that working with a team that’s focused on one common goal leads to fast communication and quick improvements being made. Everyone is onboard and dedicated to helping our members.
Q: Describe the Livongo culture in 3 words.
Dedicated. Collaborative. Creative.
Q: What does the Livongo mission mean to you?
It means that, at all times, we're working to help people live better lives. What’s great is that, in a very real way, I can see it every day at the office.
Q: What is your favorite band?
Guster. I started listening to them in college and I always see them whenever they're in town. They put on a great show and they do interesting things musically (varied time signatures, layered harmonies, diverse instrumental composition, etc.).
Q: If you could have coffee with any 2 people, living or from the past – who would they be, and why?
Benjamin Franklin and Oscar Wilde. Ben Franklin for his renaissance man abilities, interests, and achievements and Oscar Wilde for his wit and ability to create stories that satirize and adore the human condition at the same time
Aditi Joshi
Engineering
Experience: Medtronic
Q: What do you do at Livongo?
As a part of the Livongo mobile team, I am creating an Android app for our members so they can access their diabetes data.
Q: When did you join Livongo?
July 2015
Q: What made you want to work at Livongo?
Livongo’s approach towards chronic disease management is different from other products in the market. We are not building technology for people with diabetes that overwhelms them with information but Instead gives them insights and support to make better decisions.
Q: What previous experience do you bring to Livongo?
With my internship at Medtronic, I not only learned a lot only about the technology that goes into building glucose monitoring devices but also about the disease state of diabetes. I realized that while healthcare is still relatively conservative in the adoption of technology, we will soon see some really impactful technology that will revolutionize it.
Q: What is the most interesting part of Livongo?
Livongo is trying to build a simple yet elegant solution for Diabetes management which not only empowers people with diabetes but also educates the support network around them to live a happier and healthier life.
Q: What has working at Livongo taught you?
I have learned that a great product cannot be built without understanding and empathizing with your users. Every person who lives with diabetes has a different journey and taking this into account is imperative so we can build a product that helps them live a better life.
Q: Describe the Livongo culture in 3 words.
Fun, goal-oriented, passionate.
Q: What does the Livongo mission mean to you?
Livongo’s mission is not to make our members completely dependent on technology but instead building technology that empowers them to take control of their life and health.
Q: What is your favorite band?
Coldplay.
Q: If you could have coffee with any 2 people, living or from the past – who would they be, and why?
Steve Jobs because very few people have the courage to completely disregard conventional views, trust their own beliefs and values and change the world with them. Roger Federer because he is a true testament to the fact that perfection requires great discipline.
Nestor Ocampo
Product
Experience: Microsoft, Danger
Q: What do you do at Livongo?
I work with Customer Support, Sales, and Business Development to learn about the needs of Livongo members and clients. I then collaborate with our Design, Engineering, and QA teams to define, prioritize, and deliver new features to Livongo’s products.
Q: What previous experience do you bring to Livongo?
Prior to joining Livongo, I worked on several innovative consumer products ranging from smartphones to eReaders. One of my favorite experiences working with an amazing team at Danger to build the T-Mobile Sidekick. It was the first smartphone to reach a broad consumer audience because it connected with a smart cloud to create an experience that wasn’t available on any other product. This mirrors the type of experience we want our Livongo members to have.
Q: What is the most interesting part of Livongo for Diabetes to you?
A connected meter opens the door for members to get instant, meaningful feedback. I’m excited about the opportunity to provide highly-personalized insight, encouragement, and support when it’s relevant for members.
Q: What has working at Livongo taught you?
Everybody with diabetes has unique needs. It’s important to build a product that’s flexible enough to adapt to how each individual wants to approach his or her diabetes management.
Q: Describe the Livongo culture in 3 words.
Passionate, collaborative, and creative
Q: What made you want to work at Livongo?
I was (and continue to be) extremely impressed with the team and the passion it has to put members first and deliver great products.
Q: What’s your favorite low glycemic index food?
I love snacking on pecans or guacamole
Q: If you could have coffee with any 2 people, living or from the past – who would they be, and why?
I would enjoy meeting Ben Franklin to hear how he would view our world today. In his day, he was a fountain of ideas and his impact ranged from the creating libraries and discoveries in electricity to overseas diplomacy. I would also love to meet Mark Twain. His stories paint a great picture over a century after they were written. It would be fun to sit with him to hear tall tales about his travels around the world
Stacy Roberts
Client Strategy
Experience: AllScripts, CVS
Q: What do you do at Livongo?
My team and I work directly with clients to define, shape, and execute the implementation of Livongo and manage the ongoing client relationship and program.
Q: When did you join Livongo?
November 2014
Q: What made you want to work at Livongo?
I was eager to change my perspective and experience in healthcare and return to more of a client-facing role. The passion and energy exuded by the Livongo team around our mission of empowering people with chronic conditions live a better life is infectious and I knew I wanted to be part of something special.
Q: What previous experience do you bring to Livongo?
I started my career in management consulting, focusing on operational improvement and defining and implementing technology-enabled business solutions (love consulting terms!). After a a dozen years, I joined Allscripts, where I worked on corporate program leadership and managed service operations.
Q: What is the most interesting part of Livongo?
I love the access members have to their data and to see how their blood glucose readings look over time rather than just from reading to reading. I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to looking at data and like seeing the bigger picture.
Q: What has working at Livongo taught you?
Working with members first-hand has been tremendous expanded my compassion and understanding.
Q: Describe the Livongo culture in 3 words.
Passionate, Driven, Go-Go-Go!
Q: What does the Livongo mission mean to you?
We have the opportunity every single day to directly help people with diabetes -- how lucky are we!
Q: If you could have coffee with any 2 people, living or from the past – who would they be, and why?
This is tough! First, I’d love to have coffee with Audrey Hepburn. I've long admired her for her class and poise. If only I could emulate her style and her.... je ne sais quoi 🙂 Next, I’s assemble a 'coffee klatch' of former U.S. Secretaries of State (e.g., Madeleine Albreit, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice) to hear their stories, as they can be nothing short of fascinating!

Regulatory
Experience: ZOLL Circulation
Q: What do you do at Livongo?
I work to ensure that our products are safe, effective, and meet all FDA standards.
Q: When did you join Livongo?
August 2015
Q: What made you want to work at Livongo?
The top reason is the ability to make a difference in a condition that my loved ones are dealing with.
Q: What previous experience do you bring to Livongo?
I had experience as a Complaints Analyst, where I investigated incoming complaints and worked on Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs).
Q: What is the most interesting part of Livongo?
The most interesting part of Livongo for Diabetes are the many benefits the program offers: from sending alerts to family when members have high or low blood glucose readings to sending blood glucose data to a member’s health team with the click of a button!
Q: What has working at Livongo taught you?
Working at Livongo has taught me that living with diabetes is a struggle, not only for the person living with the condition, but also for their family members. Having family members with diabetes, I've learned that while I thought being the "Food Police" was a way of showing my love, in reality it was not helpful and often made the person feel frustrated and guilty.
Q: Describe the Livongo culture in 3 words.
Fun, exciting & innovative
Q: What does the Livongo mission mean to you?
By giving our members the tools to manage their diabetes effectively, we are helping those living with chronic conditions live happier, healthier lives.
Q: What is your favorite band?
I have a very eclectic taste in music so choosing one band is tough. It would be a toss up between Offspring and IZ (Israel Kamakawiwo'ole).
Q: If you could have coffee with any 2 people, living or from the past – who would they be, and why?
The first would be my grandfather, as he passed before I was born. I would love to have the opportunity to get to know him, and learn more about his life directly from him. From all of the stories that I heard growing up, he seems to have been an amazing man.
The other person would be Catherine the Great. I find Russian history to be extremely interesting, and would be excited to hear what she would say about being the longest ruling female leader of Russia as well as what she would say about the state of the world today.
