2020 has been full of challenges for all of us — including employers who are responsible for managing the health and wellbeing (as well as the productivity and morale) of their workforce.
In fact, a recent survey from Willis Towers Watson — a leading global advisory, broking and solutions company that helps Clients manage risk, optimize benefits, and cultivate talent — found that many employees are dealing with severe stress, anxiety, or depression, and those feelings impact their work performance. For example:
- 38% of employees say stress, anxiety, or depression impact at least one member of their family, and 45% of those say they haven’t gotten the help they need.
- These employees are half as likely to be highly engaged on the job and are missing, on average, four more work days per year than their peers.
- Research collected during the pandemic indicates a worsening state of mental health among workers – 92% of employees now report some level of anxiety, with 55% indicating a moderate or high degree of anxiety.
- In light of this reality, two-thirds of employers say they will prioritize access to high-quality mental health solutions for their employees in 2021.
